If you’re running a high-speed curing line, you know the drill. You’ve got coatings and inks that need to set now, and the speed of your conveyor is usually the thing keeping you up at night. That’s where our 120W/cm lamps come in. We built these to hit that 254nm sweet spot. It’s the exact wavelength needed to kick the photoinitiators in your resins into gear, getting your product cured and moving without the lag. The Heat Factor Here’s the thing: 120W/cm is a lot of power packed into a small space. It’s great for getting photons deep into your coating quickly, but it generates some serious heat. You’ve got to keep an eye on your conveyor speed. Too slow, and you’ll scorch your substrate. Too fast, and you’re left with a tacky mess. And please, don’t skimp on the cooling. Whether you’re using air or water jackets, your system needs to actually handle the load. If that quartz envelope gets too hot, the lamp will burn out at the ends, and you’ll be replacing tubes way sooner than you should. The Nitty-Gritty We use high-purity mercury vapor because we want the light to stay stable. When the arc hits, it’s a clean, powerful burst of UV. We also obsess over where the electrodes sit. Why? Because if they’re off by even a fraction, the arc can wander. When that happens, you get those annoying “curing stripes” on your product. Nobody wants those. Real-World Use The good news is these are pretty much “plug and play.” They fit right into most standard industrial frames without any fuss. We’ve worked hard to make sure the arc is stable so you get the same quality you’d expect from the big-name global brands. Just keep in mind that high wattage takes a toll. Over time, the quartz degrades. You’ll notice the UV intensity dipping slightly as the lamp ages. When that happens, you’ve got two choices: slow down your line or pop in a fresh tube. Simple as that.
